Four Garden Rescues

These four all black siblings were rescued from a garden where they were growing up to be feral cats like the mother.

These four all black siblings were erscued from growing up as ferals cats living wild in gardens. Unfortunately, the youngsters are about sixteen weeks of age and have therefore missed out on their best chance of being socialised to easily accept humans. The formative period for kittens being between three and six weeks.

This does not mean that their future is totally bleak but sadly it does mean that it will be an uphill task to gain their confidence and get them to really bond with people.

It would have been so much better for them and easier for us if they had been rescued at an earlier age.

Our plan is to try and slowly get them to accept us as not threatening to them and realise that we offer kindness, treats and companionship!

This is a tough job at this stage as they are thoroughly terrified of people and really do not want to be touched or held by us!

Help Wanted to Socialise them!

We need lots of help with the task of getting them used to human companionship and learning to trust people.

It is a job best suited to gentle and patient cat lovers who realise that much hardwork and commitment will need to be invested for potentilly very little positive results for a long time, if at all!

To offer to help socialise these kittens please email admin@westgateark.org.uk and head the communication 'SOCIALISATION'.

You will likely be asked to spend an hour sitting with these youngsters while talking gently to them and offering them little treats like bits of chicken, or in trying to engage them in gentle play.
